COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS - Joy Wooden Photo Holder Blocks

HAPPY DECEMBER 1st! Today marks the beginning of Manda's Countdown to Christmas. I plan to be prepared this year, since I am due on the 15th, so I have scheduled M-F postings of cool crafts, stamped projects etc. that I have created just for this countdown event. So the posts will keep on coming even if I am out of commission for a bit having a baby! Some you may have seen before, some may be new, but hopefully they will keep you busy and in the Christmas spirit. I just want you all to know how fun it has been creating these projects. It has really helped me get into the spirit of the season, and has helped my house look WAY more festive!!! Enjoy!! Oh and today is also the start of Hanna Stamps Preview Week, I will be back later today with a sneak peek for you!!!

The first project is these JOY Wooden Photo Blocks. Now you could do this for any word at all -- FAMILY comes to mind, or LOVE and then decorate accordingly. These are just cut pieces of wood, sanded slightly, and then in this case, painted white, but you could do any color to match your project. Small holes were drilled in the top of the blocks to hold the wire (emphasis on small here). I attached my designer paper to some real red card stock after measuring the approximate size. After trimming them carefully, I stitched with my sewing machine around the edge of the paper in white. I then used my red line adhesive tape (terrifically tacky tape), to adhere the background pieces to the project. Next I laid the ribbon on the project and adhered it in the back. Easy right?

The letters were created by using some large RUB-ON letters from JoAnn's -- I got them on sale for like $3 or less. Anyway, you just place the rub on over the red paper and gently rub. Then you peel the plastic away and your letter is there. I then trimmed around the letter, leaving room for some stitching and then stitched in white around the edges. Then again, I used my red line tape to stick these on the paper already on the blocks. Then I bent the wires I had using my fingers to create swirls and rolled the unswirled end in a glue dot and stuck it in the top, already drilled, hole. The wires on top can hold pictures, or even some Christmas cards! ASK if you have any questions and I will help you out as best as I can. Have fun creating!!! (((((HUGS)))))
